This emergency was declared after the coup attempt was broken in 2016. Thousands were detained or sacked under emergency.

Seven times the emergency period was extended. This extension was granted for a period of three months. The government has decided that after a few weeks after President Recep Tayyip Erdwardan has retained the post again, the government has not yet extended the state of emergency.
